5 tips for a rustic decor
Discover some decorative tips to embellish and sublimate a rustic room.
1. Soft and natural colors
It is the natural and discreet side that characterizes the rustic style. Natural and neutral shades are the dominant colors in a country interior. For the walls, for example, it is best to favor the color white, cream or even beige, to reduce the too dark colors of wood and metal often used on furniture. Get collections here! Depending on your choices, you also have the possibility of choosing other natural tones, such as taupe, brown, ochre, or even blue, and pastel shades, namely, pale green or powder pink… bright colors are however to be avoided or used sparingly on small decorative elements.
2. Bring in the light
In order not to weigh down and darken the decoration of a rustic room, often loaded with wooden elements, care is taken to bring in natural light. On the windows, we thus avoid curtains made of too thick and blackout fabric which risk blocking the light. As for lighting, the trend is for somewhat retro objects such as chandeliers or pretty metal table lamps with a vintage feel that will go beautifully with wooden elements.
3. Exposed beams
The exposed beams on the ceiling are the ultimate in rustic decoration. They give character to the room and a very family home feel. To make them stand out, it may be wise to leave the beams raw, but to paint the ceiling white for a chic and elegant decor.
4. Floral decorations
Country houses love flowers and everything related to them. On the different levels, from the table, the furniture or even on the floor, we do not hesitate to embellish the decor with beautiful bouquets of flowers. Decorators also love the addition of dried flower creations that add softness and a bohemian touch to a living room. Finally, why not also opt for jars or large transparent vases in which we add natural or artificial flowers.
5. Neat flooring
For the floor of a country interior, a wide variety of coatings are possible, including:
- Cement tile: Often patterned, cement tiles are used a lot in the kitchen, the dining room but also in the living room, they allow to awaken the decoration of a room in a vintage spirit.
- Terracotta: well-worked terracotta tiling can be a great decorative asset in a rustic decoration. The terracotta color brings a warm side that can go beautifully with sleek wooden furniture.
- Parquet: The wooden parquet obviously has its place in a rustic interior to accentuate the authentic side of the atmosphere.
